In unstable times, touch is not a luxury
Altar: A Seasonal Practice of Pelvic Self Care is coming up on Sunday 13th July
Wild roses in Pembrokeshire, June 2025
Dear ones,
The world is loud right now. Uncertain. Unsteady.
How much can we track - how much are we meant to track—to remain human beings who care?
If we open our aperture too wide, do we lose touch with the ground beneath our feet?
If we don't widen our awareness, are we turning away from the suffering of others?
I don’t have answers.
But I do find myself wondering - how do we, how do I, make the most meaningful kind of difference?
In the ways I know how, how can I offer what is most useful, most impactful, to the world around me?
These questions have been with me as we ride the wave of 2025.
Where are your thoughts in these times?
Across the UK, the US, and much of the globe, we are moving through political shifts, cultural reckonings, and rising unrest.
In times like these, it’s easy to let care slip to the margins.
To believe that tending to ourselves is indulgent, when so much needs tending outside of us.
But I - and we want to say, again and again is that care is not a luxury.
Touch is not a luxury.
Self-touch is not a soft distraction.
It is a practice of reclaiming ground.
Of choosing to feel, when numbness might be easier.
Of making the body a place we arrive in, rather than escape from.
This month, in that spirit, we have these offerings coming up:
- Sunday 13th July — Altar: A Seasonal Practice of Pelvic Self-Care 6pm BST / 10am PST / 1pm EST
A gentle, sacred practice of self-touch, breath, and presence.
We tend to the pelvis — not as pathology or productivity, but as a site of memory, power, and quiet knowing.
You are not expected to be “healed” or whole.
Only willing to be with yourself, with care.
Supportive fee, for those who are able to easily pay for "wants" and do not worry about securing basic necessities: $120
Middle fee, for those who have access to steady income and are confident about meeting basic needs: $90
Supported fee, for those whom the full or middle fees would impact ability to meet basic needs: $60
- Monday 14th July — Practitioner Circle 6pm BST / 10am PST / 1pm EST
A space for those who hold others — bodyworkers, touch practitioners, and somatic guides, to gather, reflect, and speak into the complexity of our work.
Especially now, when the world presses in, and boundaries blur.
This is a space for what doesn’t always get said.
Practitioner circles are:
— Free to all paid subscribers
— Free to first-timers
If you want to join for practitioner circle and you’re not a paid subscriber, drop us a line, we’d love to have you with us.
Care is political. Touch is political.
And self-touch - deliberate, reverent, and slow, is a quiet act of resistance.
You’re welcome in both spaces.
Just as you are.
With love,
Em (on behalf of myself and Pam)
